Ravindra Jadeja Discusses Heated Exchange with Ben Stokes During Test Match

Jadeja Opens Up About On-Field Tensions
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recently shared insights regarding a tense verbal confrontation he had with England's captain, Ben Stokes, during the second Test at Edgbaston.
The match has seen an increase in on-field drama, with England players engaging in psychological tactics. Following a verbal spat with Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first day, Stokes found himself embroiled in another exchange after Chris Woakes raised concerns with the umpires about Jadeja's actions.
Details of the Jadeja-Stokes Exchange
The English team accused Jadeja of creating a hazardous area on the pitch, which they believed was intentional. Stokes confronted Jadeja, saying, "Look what you have done, mate."
In response, Jadeja defended his actions, stating, "But I was coming from here. I won't bowl there anyway. Why would I do that? My focus is on batting?"
Stokes Claims Jadeja is Damaging the Pitch
Jadeja elaborated on his conversation with Stokes, clarifying that he did not intend to damage the pitch.
"He thinks I am making it rough for myself. In reality, he was making it rougher by using fast bowlers. I didn't mean to create any rough patches. I ran around a bit, but that was not my intention. If we get the chance tomorrow, we will aim to bowl in good areas and perform to the best of our abilities," Jadeja explained to reporters after the second day's play.
Jadeja and Gill's Partnership Boosts India's Total
During the match, Jadeja played a crucial role in a remarkable 203-run partnership with captain Shubman Gill. His steady presence allowed Gill to play freely against England's less experienced bowling attack.
Jadeja's innings ended on a disappointing note when he attempted to pull a fast delivery from Josh Tongue, resulting in a catch to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith. He finished with a score of 89 off 137 balls, while Gill's impressive 269 helped propel India's total to a formidable 587.
