Ravichandran Ashwin, the former Indian cricket star, has officially announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The renowned off-spinner shared this news through a post on X (previously known as Twitter). At 39 years old, Ashwin played for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 season, having been acquired for INR 9.75 crore.

In his heartfelt message, Ashwin expressed, "Today marks a special day and a new beginning. While my journey as an IPL player concludes, I am excited to start exploring the game in various leagues."
He continued, "I am grateful to all the franchises for the incredible memories and relationships built over the years, and especially to the IPL and BCCI for their support throughout my career. I look forward to embracing what lies ahead."
Recently, Ashwin also announced his retirement from international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. However, he has indicated his intention to participate in various leagues moving forward.
