KKR secured Green for a staggering ₹25.20 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history.

CSK's Missed Opportunity

In the mini auction, both CSK and KKR were seen as frontrunners due to their substantial budgets, making them strong contenders for acquiring Green. However, CSK withdrew from the bidding once the price exceeded ₹25 crore. Ashwin remarked that KKR acted hastily in their bidding strategy and could have eliminated CSK from contention much earlier.

Ashwin's Perspective on the Bidding Strategy

On his YouTube channel, Ashwin suggested that if KKR had exercised a bit more patience, similar to other franchises like Punjab, CSK might have backed out of the bidding for Green much sooner. He noted that CSK's decision not to sign Green was a missed opportunity, emphasizing that Green is an exceptional talent who will be a valuable asset for KKR.

Cameron Green's IPL Journey

Ashwin further expressed that Cameron Green would have been a fantastic addition to CSK, indicating that they let a significant opportunity slip away. Regardless of the price, Green's extraordinary talent makes him a remarkable acquisition for KKR. This will be Green's third franchise in the IPL, having previously played for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He missed the last auction due to a lengthy injury during the off-season.
