His latest impressive performance was in the semifinal against England, where he scored 89 runs off just 42 balls, hitting seven sixes. This followed his unbeaten 97-run innings against West Indies, which secured India's spot in the semifinals.

Shastri attributes Samson's recent success to his newfound consistency, improved shot selection, and a stronger mental approach. He noted that while Samson possesses a wide array of shots, earlier mental lapses hindered his performance. Now, he seems to have developed a tougher mindset.
"I believe he has finally recognized the need for consistency. He must be more judicious with his shot choices and trust his abilities. Sanju has every shot in his arsenal, but he previously struggled with concentration. Now, he appears to have strengthened his mental game, and his talent has never been in question since he joined the team," Shastri remarked during The ICC Review.

England remained competitive throughout their chase, largely due to Jacob Bethell's remarkable century. Ultimately, Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional bowling proved crucial, as India clinched victory by a narrow seven-run margin.
Batting first, India benefited from Samson's fiery innings, complemented by contributions from Shivam Dube (43 runs off 25 balls), Ishan Kishan (39 runs off 18 balls), Hardik Pandya (27 runs off 12 balls), and Tilak Varma (21 runs off 7 balls). Despite having England at 95/4, the match turned when Bethell (105 runs off 48 balls) and Will Jacks (35 runs off 20 balls) formed a counter-attacking partnership. The turning point came in the 18th over, where Bumrah conceded only six runs, putting pressure on England, who needed 45 runs from the last three overs.
