Rajat Patidar Provides Updates on Virat Kohli's Fitness After RCB Victory
Rajat Patidar Discusses Virat Kohli's Condition
After the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI), captain Rajat Patidar shared insights regarding the fitness of star player Virat Kohli, indicating that the 37-year-old is doing well.
Following a setback against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), RCB rebounded with an 18-run triumph over their rivals at Wankhede Stadium. Key contributions came from Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, and Rajat Patidar, each scoring impressive fifties, leading RCB to a total of 240/4. MI managed to score 222/5, falling short despite a remarkable 71* off 31 balls by Sherfane Rutherford, which included nine sixes and a four. Notably, Virat Kohli was absent from the field, seen wearing a jacket while resting.
In a post-match interview, Patidar addressed rumors regarding Kohli's potential injury, stating, "I do not know yet, but I think he is okay right now."
Team Effort Highlighted by Patidar
Reflecting on the victory, Patidar emphasized the clarity provided to players within the batting lineup and praised the vibrant atmosphere at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. He remarked, "Whenever we come here to Mumbai, especially at this ground, the atmosphere, the fans, and playing in a packed stadium create a unique experience. There is more clarity about each individual’s role, and the way Virat Bhai and Salt initiated the innings kept us in control. A solid cameo from me and Tim (David) contributed to what I would call a pure team effort."
Patidar's Preference for Pace Bowling
When asked about his preference between spin and pace bowling, Patidar candidly stated, "Honestly, people often say I excel against spin, but if asked, I would say I prefer facing pace. This track is favorable for fast bowlers, and I enjoy playing against them."
This season, Patidar has faced 59 balls from spin bowlers, scoring 129 runs at an impressive strike rate of 218.94, including nine fours and 11 sixes, with two dismissals. Against pace, he has accumulated 66 runs off 32 balls, achieving a strike rate of 206.25, with two fours and seven sixes, being dismissed once.
Currently, Patidar shares the title of joint-highest six-hitter with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, both having hit 18 sixes this season. He is also the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 195 runs in four innings at an average of 65.00 and a strike rate of 214.28, including two fifties.
