Rajasthan Royals Secure Dominant Victory Over RCB in IPL 2026
Sooryavanshi and Jurel Lead RR to Victory
In a thrilling encounter on Friday, Rajasthan Royals (RR) triumphed over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a commanding six-wicket win in their IPL 2026 match. This victory marked RR's fourth consecutive win, maintaining their unbeaten streak while handing RCB their first defeat of the season.
The foundation of RR's success was laid by the explosive partnership between young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel, who dismantled the RCB bowling lineup during the Powerplay, propelling the team to a remarkable 97/1 in just six overs.
Chasing a target of 202 runs, RR started aggressively. Although Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed early for 13 runs, Sooryavanshi, at just 15 years old, stole the spotlight. He reached his half-century in a mere 15 balls, ultimately scoring a stunning 78 runs off just 26 balls, which included 8 fours and 7 sixes. His partnership with Jurel, which yielded 108 runs in just 37 balls, was pivotal.
Jurel played a crucial role as the anchor, finishing with an impressive 81 not out from 43 balls, featuring 8 fours and 3 sixes.
RCB's Brief Resurgence
The match took a brief turn when Krunal Pandya struck twice in the 9th over, dismissing both Sooryavanshi and Shimron Hetmyer (0) in consecutive deliveries. With Josh Hazlewood removing skipper Riyan Parag for just 3 runs, RCB sensed an opportunity. However, Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja (24* off 25) steadied the ship, forming a 68-run partnership that guided RR to victory in 18 overs with six wickets in hand.
Patidar's Heroics for RCB
Earlier in the match, RCB managed to recover from a shaky start to post a competitive total of 201/8 in their 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar's half-century (63 runs off 40 balls) and a late surge from Impact Player Venkatesh Iyer (29* runs off 15 balls) helped set a challenging target of 202 runs.
Winning the toss, Rajasthan opted to bowl first, which paid off immediately as Jofra Archer dismissed Phil Salt for a golden duck on the first ball. Archer continued to apply pressure, taking out Devdutt Padikkal (14 off 7) in the 3rd over. Although Virat Kohli looked promising with 32 runs off 16 balls, he fell to Ravi Bishnoi in the 5th over, leaving RCB struggling at 62/4 within seven overs.
As wickets continued to tumble, RCB found themselves at 94/6 in the 11th over. Patidar took charge, reaching his half-century in 35 balls and then accelerating the scoring. His pivotal innings included two consecutive sixes off Ravi Bishnoi in the 17th over, contributing to his total of 63 runs, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes, before being dismissed in the 18th over.
Venkatesh Iyer's impactful cameo helped push RCB past the 200-run mark, scoring 29 runs off 15 balls, while Romario Shepherd added 22 runs. Despite a strong start, Rajasthan's bowlers struggled to contain runs in the death overs, with Jofra Archer (2/33 in 3 overs), Ravi Bishnoi (2/32 in 4 overs), and Brijesh Sharma (2/37 in 4 overs) being the standout bowlers.
