India batted first, posting a formidable target of 190 runs for the home team. However, the English side was unable to take the field as rain persisted, leading to over an hour and a half of waiting before the match was ultimately abandoned.

This marks the third international match at this venue that has been canceled for India. Previously, two ODIs were also abandoned, one in 2002 and another in 2011. The next T20I is scheduled for Saturday in Manchester, where India will face the hosts again.
