Rachin Ravindra Returns Home Early from IPL 2026 for Mental Refresh
Rachin Ravindra's Early Departure from IPL
All-rounder Rachin Ravindra of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is set to leave the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season earlier than expected. He shared that KKR has been supportive of his choice to return home briefly to recharge before New Zealand's upcoming Test series in Ireland and England.
Ravindra expressed that this was an opportune moment for him to take a short break for mental and physical rejuvenation, especially with a lengthy period away from home anticipated until late August.
Appreciation for KKR's Support
In his remarks, Ravindra stated, "KKR has been incredibly understanding regarding my situation. Given my lack of playing time, I discussed with the CEO and coach the possibility of returning home for a refresh. I realized I wouldn't be back until late August due to the upcoming commitments."
New Zealand is scheduled to play a one-off, four-day Test against Ireland from May 27 to May 30, followed by a three-Test series against England. Notably, this Test against Ireland is not part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
Ravindra conveyed his gratitude to KKR for permitting him to take this early leave to recharge before joining the team in Ireland. He noted that the brief break has been beneficial for both his mental and physical well-being, particularly after extended periods away from home. He added that the decision was made easier by his limited game time in the IPL.
"It was fantastic of them to allow me to go home, refresh, and engage in some training before rejoining the squad in Ireland. Given the overlap in schedules, it was a straightforward decision since I wasn't actively playing. Even a few days at home, which I've experienced, is incredibly valuable," he remarked.
