Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 11: Renowned Indian badminton player PV Sindhu has highlighted the critical need for fitness and injury avoidance as she gears up for a hectic competitive season leading to significant events like the Asian Games 2026.

During a Puma & Hyrox event in Bengaluru, Sindhu shared her insights, noting that the forthcoming season will be particularly challenging due to consecutive tournaments, making physical conditioning and injury prevention essential for optimal performance.

“This year is going to be quite busy for us, but it’s crucial to remain injury-free. That’s a top priority right now. With tournaments lined up back-to-back, maintaining fitness and avoiding injuries is vital,” Sindhu remarked.

The two-time Olympic medalist emphasized that physical fitness is key to ensuring consistency and readiness for high-stakes competitions.

When asked about the level of support athletes receive compared to cricketers, Sindhu expressed that each sport has its unique identity and ecosystem, and she welcomes any increase in support across all disciplines.

“Every sport is distinct, with its own individuality and support systems. We appreciate the backing we receive, and more support is always beneficial for all athletes,” she stated.

She further mentioned that enhanced support systems across various sports enable athletes to gain valuable experience, enhance their performance, and secure medals for the nation on the international stage.

“It’s encouraging to see many athletes receiving support, as it allows them to compete for our country, gain experience, and ultimately bring home medals,” Sindhu added.

Her remarks come at a time when Indian athletes are ramping up their preparations for major global events, with a focus on fitness management and balancing workloads in anticipation of the Asian Games.
