Punjab Kings Strengthen Squad with Key Signings in IPL 2026 Auction
Punjab Kings Concludes IPL 2026 Mini-Auction
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) wrapped up the IPL 2026 mini-auction by making four crucial signings, finalizing their 25-player roster for the upcoming season. The auction featured PBKS acquiring two capped players and two uncapped players, with Australian fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis being the team's most expensive acquisition, as reported in an official release.
Key Overseas Acquisitions
The Kings kicked off their auction strategy by securing Cooper Connolly, an Australian batting all-rounder, for ₹3 crore. Connolly, a promising talent, is expected to enhance the middle order and provide a reliable slow left-arm spin option. Captain Shreyas Iyer, who has previously faced Connolly in Australia, commented on the decision: "Initially, he wasn't on our radar, but as we discussed our options, we recognized he was a perfect fit for our needs. His temperament and game-finishing ability are crucial in the IPL. We anticipated his price would be higher than ₹3 crore."
Following this, the team made their highest bid of the auction, acquiring Ben Dwarshuis for ₹4.40 crore. The left-arm pacer not only strengthens the bowling lineup but also adds a powerful hitting option in the lower order.
Enhancing Domestic Talent
Pravin Dubey made a return to the Kings after being re-signed at his base price of ₹20 lakh, providing essential spin support alongside Yuzvendra Chahal and Harpreet Brar.
Additionally, promising young player Vishal Nishad has joined the PBKS squad, also signed at his base price of ₹30 lakh.
The Kings entered the auction with a budget of ₹11.5 crore, spending ₹8 crore to secure two overseas and two domestic players.
