In their IPL 2026 match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, Punjab Kings (PBKS) managed to score a formidable 200 runs for 8 wickets against the Mumbai Indians (MI). A standout performance came from Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 57 runs, supported by crucial contributions from the lower order.

Opening Partnership Shines

PBKS began their innings steadily, reaching 16 runs without loss in the first two overs. By the end of the fourth over, they had advanced to 31 runs, with openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh playing cautiously yet effectively to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Record-Breaking Achievements

With his score of 22, Priyansh Arya became the second uncapped Indian player to surpass 350 runs in each of his first two IPL seasons, having scored 475 runs in 2025 and 357 runs in 2026. He joins Ambati Rayudu, who achieved similar feats in 2010 and 2011. Additionally, Priyansh and Prabhsimran became the first uncapped duo to accumulate over 1000 partnership runs in IPL history.

After Priyansh's exit, Cooper Connolly and Prabhsimran maintained the momentum with effective strike rotation, leading PBKS to 89 for 1 at the halfway mark. Prabhsimran reached his second half-century of the season against MI in the 11th over, hitting a six to mark the milestone. Unfortunately, his innings ended shortly after as Shardul Thakur took his wicket, with Prabhsimran scoring 57 runs off 32 balls.

Prabhsimran's performance made him the third uncapped Indian player to score over 400 runs in multiple IPL seasons, following Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma.

Shardul continued to trouble PBKS, dismissing skipper Shreyas Iyer for just four runs, leaving the team at 111 for 3.

Wickets Fall as Pressure Mounts
