Brad Haddin Discusses Team's Aspirations

Brad Haddin, the assistant coach of Punjab Kings (PBKS), expressed the team's ambition to showcase a "perfect game" in their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday. Currently, PBKS tops the IPL 2026 points table with 13 points from nine matches, having secured six victories. However, they are looking to bounce back after suffering defeats in their last two games against Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. Haddin emphasized the team's desire to regain their winning momentum, highlighting their fearless approach this season, particularly through openers Prabhsimran Singh, who has scored 361 runs, and Priyansh Arya, with 285 runs. During the pre-match press conference, Haddin praised the team's mindset, believing they are on the verge of achieving a "perfect game." He stated, "Our openers have been pivotal in our current standing. Their talent and fearless attitude at the top have been crucial. Tournament success hinges on performing at your best when it matters most, and that’s what we’re aiming for."

Middle Order's Contribution

Haddin also noted the growing confidence stemming from the middle order's performance. He highlighted Suryansh Shedge's impressive 57 runs off 29 balls against Gujarat Titans as a significant boost for the team's depth. "The partnership between Stoinis and Suryansh was commendable, especially under pressure. Suryansh's ability to navigate through tough phases and then accelerate was remarkable. While our top order is explosive, the middle order is now finding its rhythm and form," Haddin remarked.

Confidence in Arshdeep Singh

The assistant coach reaffirmed the team's trust in their strike bowler, Arshdeep Singh, whom he described as a world-class talent. Haddin acknowledged the challenges bowlers face in the current tournament climate but emphasized the long-term goals. "Arshdeep is exceptional. In this tournament, bowlers will inevitably have off days due to the aggressive batting. However, he understands the dynamics of tournament play, and we are pleased with his progress. It’s crucial for our top players to perform in key matches, especially as the tournament progresses, and Arshdeep is integral to our strategy," he stated.

Strategic Approach Against SRH

To secure a win against SRH, Haddin outlined a clear tactical plan: "We need to take early wickets. It’s essential not to allow Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to settle in and bat for too long."
