Sharayu Ranjane from Pune and Harshit Mahimkar from Greater Mumbai showcased their skills at the Willingdon Sports Club, defeating higher-ranked opponents to secure their spots in the quarter-finals of the Maharashtra State U-19 Badminton Selection Tournament, as reported by the organizing committee.

In a remarkable performance, unseeded Sharayu triumphed over the fifth seed, Navya Ranka, with scores of 15-10 and 15-13. Meanwhile, Mahimkar displayed composure in a nail-biting match against fourth seed Pranay Gadewar from Nagpur, winning 15-8, 9-15, and 15-13. Another notable upset came from Aaysuh Adey of Pune, seeded 13, who defeated eighth seed Nikshep Katre with scores of 15-11 and 15-12.

Top seed Yutika Chavan from Pune faced a tough challenge against unseeded Pranjal Shinde from Raigad but managed to win 15-10, 13-15, and 15-8. Similarly, seventh seed Nishika Gokhe from Nagpur overcame a scare to defeat Gatha Suryawanshi from Raigad with scores of 15-9, 15-10, and 15-12.

In the boys' category, the top two seeds, Arjun Aluguvelli from Mumbai Suburb and Rutva Sajwan from Nagpur, continued their winning streak, easily advancing to the next round, along with the second seed among girls, Ridheema Sarpate from Nagpur.
