Prithvi Shaw's Request for NOC

Recently, it has come to light that Prithvi Shaw, a young cricketer from Mumbai, has formally requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). According to a report, the talented player is considering relocating for his domestic cricket career. An MCA representative confirmed this, stating:

"Yes, he has written to us for an NOC. We will discuss and decide."

Shaw's journey with the Mumbai team has been tumultuous, marked by issues related to his fitness and discipline. He was initially excluded from the Ranji squad but made a comeback in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, only to be dropped again during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In a moment of frustration, Shaw took to Instagram to express his feelings:

"Tell me God, what more do I have to see.. if 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I'm not good enough but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people believe in me still cause I will come back for sure.. Om Sai Ram."

In response to Shaw's comments, an MCA official remarked:

"His fitness, discipline, and attitude are lacking, and we cannot have different rules for different players. The ball would pass near him, and he would barely make an effort to reach it. Even while batting, he struggled to reach the ball."

Reports indicate that Shaw has missed several training sessions and has been late checking into hotels. Senior players, including Shreyas Iyer, who captained Mumbai in the SMAT, have emphasized the need for Shaw to improve his discipline.

Prithvi Shaw's Performance in Domestic Cricket

Prithvi Shaw, once regarded as one of India's most promising talents, has experienced a significant decline in form early in his career. His last List A match in India was during the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Last season, he played for Northamptonshire, where he scored 97, 72, 9, 23, and 17. Before being dropped from Mumbai’s squad, his scores were 32, 54, 39, 51, and 10. Since his much-anticipated Test debut in 2018, Shaw has participated in only four additional Tests, with his last international appearance in 2021. He also went unsold in the 2024 IPL auction.
