Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has officially concluded his long-standing relationship with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). He has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the MCA, allowing him to join another state team for the upcoming domestic season. The MCA has acknowledged his decision and granted the NOC.

On Monday, the MCA confirmed that Shaw had formally applied for the NOC to play for a different state team in the next domestic season. The association accepted his request and issued the certificate.

MCA's Statement on Shaw

Abhay Hadap, the secretary of MCA, remarked, "Prithvi Shaw is an exceptional talent who has made significant contributions to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him the best for his future endeavors." The MCA also noted that this move is aimed at furthering Shaw's cricketing career.

Shaw's Contributions to Mumbai Cricket

At just 25 years old, Prithvi Shaw made his debut for Mumbai in 2017. He has played several memorable innings in tournaments like the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Notably, he played a crucial role in Mumbai's five-wicket victory against Madhya Pradesh in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year.

However, Shaw's recent performance and discipline have been under scrutiny. Issues regarding his fitness and off-field behavior led to his exclusion from the Mumbai Ranji team.

Shaw's Letter to MCA

In his letter to the MCA, Prithvi Shaw expressed gratitude for the time spent with the association. He stated, "The Mumbai Cricket Association has provided me with numerous opportunities and has always supported me. Being part of the MCA has been a matter of pride for me. The experiences I gained here are invaluable. At this stage of my career, the chance to play for another state team is essential for my growth. Therefore, I request the NOC to play with a new team."
