Prince Yadav's Key Contributions Lead India to Victory Over West Indies in T20I
India Secures Win in Third T20I Against West Indies
In the third T20I of the five-match series held at Holkar Stadium in Indore on October 11, Team India fast bowler Prince Yadav played a pivotal role by hitting three important fours. His contributions helped the team reach a total of 223 runs in their 20 overs.
Yadav scored 12 runs off just 5 balls, providing the necessary momentum during the death overs. This late surge proved crucial as the West Indies managed to score only 209 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, resulting in a 14-run victory for India and a 2-1 lead in the series after their previous loss in Ranchi.
Bowling Highlights
Arshdeep Singh emerged as the standout bowler for India, taking three key wickets, including those of Shai Hope, Sherfane Rutherford, and Keemo Paul, with impressive figures of 3 wickets for 44 runs at an economy rate of 11.00 over four overs. Naman Dhir also contributed by claiming two wickets while conceding 39 runs in 3 overs.
Prince Yadav's Special Bat
The significance of Yadav's three fours became evident as the West Indies fell short by just 15 runs in their chase. His late boundaries were instrumental in securing India's victory. Notably, Yadav used a bat gifted to him by fellow opener Abhishek Sharma, who humorously warned him not to 'embarrass the bat' before the match.
Yadav expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, "It's great to contribute to the team, whether with the ball, bat, or in the field."
Abhishek Sharma's Stellar Performance
Abhishek Sharma also had an outstanding match, scoring 69 runs off 30 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes. He formed a significant partnership of 108 runs for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan, who contributed 37 runs off 18 balls. Sharma's achievement of reaching 2000 runs in just 64 T20I innings makes him the third-fastest Indian to reach this milestone, following Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
Yadav mentioned that this was not the first time he borrowed Sharma's bat, recalling his previous use during the Ireland T20I series. He expressed his desire to use it again in future matches.
Looking Ahead
Abhishek Sharma has given his teammate the green light to use his bat again, saying simply, 'Granted.' As the Indian team prepares for the next match, they aim to secure a 3-1 series lead, while the West Indies will strive to level the series and push for a decisive fifth T20I at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 17.
