Prime Volleyball League's Fifth Season to Kick Off in Ahmedabad
Exciting Volleyball Action Set for Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], November 2: The Prime Volleyball League (PVL) is gearing up for its significant fifth season, which will take place at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Naranpura starting November 30.
This month-long event will feature top volleyball athletes from India alongside international competitors, as the league aims to enhance the visibility and appeal of professional volleyball throughout the nation.
The announcement aligns with Ahmedabad's growing reputation as a key sports hub, especially with its preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and aspirations to host the 2036 Olympic Games. The Veer Savarkar Sports Complex is designed to be part of the city's international sports infrastructure, making it an ideal venue for India's leading professional volleyball league.
Since its launch, the PVL has moved to a different host city each season, reflecting its commitment to broadening the sport's reach and engaging audiences across India. This fifth season arrives at a time when Indian volleyball is gaining international acclaim. Earlier this year, the PVL was acknowledged by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) as India's first division professional volleyball league. Additionally, the Indian men's national team has improved its standing from World No. 60 to World No. 42 in the FIVB rankings, thanks to impressive performances in various international tournaments, including the 2026 Asian Games and the AVC Continental Cup.
Joy Bhattacharjya, CEO of the Prime Volleyball League, remarked, “Bringing Season 5 to Ahmedabad is a significant milestone in our mission to promote professional volleyball across India. We have intentionally chosen different cities each season to engage new audiences and enhance the sport's presence. With Ahmedabad's growing sports aspirations and the Indian men's national team's progress, we believe this is a thrilling time to host the PVL here.”
Pravin Chaudhari, Owner of the Ahmedabad Defenders, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the league, stating, “We are incredibly proud to welcome the Prime Volleyball League to Ahmedabad. As the city gears up for major international sporting events and continues to develop top-notch infrastructure, hosting the PVL at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex presents an exciting opportunity to showcase our sporting capabilities. We eagerly anticipate welcoming teams and fans from all over the country.”
Tuhin Mishra, MD & Co-Founder of Baseline Ventures and Director of the Prime Volleyball League, added, “With FIVB recognition and the Indian men's national team making significant strides on the international stage, there is a lot of momentum surrounding volleyball in India. Our focus is on strengthening the professional ecosystem, creating opportunities for Indian talent, and expanding the sport's reach. Ahmedabad is a thrilling addition to this journey.”
This action-packed season will feature ten teams: Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Delhi Toofans, Goa Guardians, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, Mumbai Meteors, and Telugu Black Hawks, all vying for the prestigious PVL trophy starting November 30, 2026.
