Prasidh Krishna Reflects on Bowling Challenges Ahead of Second Test Against England

Prasidh Krishna Prepares for Second Test

As the Indian cricket team gears up for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, pacer Prasidh Krishna has acknowledged his struggles with bowling accuracy. He aims to improve his economy rate in the upcoming matches.

The Test match is scheduled to commence on July 2. In the previous match, Krishna took five wickets, matching the tally of leading bowler Jasprit Bumrah. However, his economy rates of 6.40 and 6.10 in both innings drew criticism from fans and analysts due to his tendency to deliver hittable balls.

Krishna Evaluates His Bowling Performance

During a pre-match press conference, Krishna reflected on his performance, stating, "In the first innings, I was a bit shorter than I intended, ideally by 6-8 meters. The second innings improved slightly as the pitch was slower."

"I had to adjust my length, pitching some deliveries slightly back and then going fuller when aiming for wickets. I recognize that I did not bowl to my desired lengths," he added.

Focus on Reducing Economy Rate

Krishna expressed his intention to lower his economy rate in future games. He mentioned, "I am learning and it’s my responsibility to improve. I am committed to putting in the necessary work to achieve better results."

Regarding the potential absence of Bumrah in the second Test, he emphasized the importance of team learning, stating that senior players have been guiding the bowling group even before their arrival in England.

Acknowledging Imperfections in Bowling

Krishna admitted that his performance in the last match was affected by the fast outfield and acknowledged that his line and lengths were not ideal, allowing English batsmen to capitalize.

"Some runs came from edges and bouncers I attempted, but I am willing to take on that responsibility. Each time I bowl, my goal is to maintain a low economy and build pressure on the batsmen," he concluded.
