Exciting Finale for IGPL in Colombo

Colombo [Sri Lanka], December 22: Pranavi Urs, the amateur champion from the IGPL (Indian Golf Premier League) Mumbai tour, is gearing up to play alongside golfing icon Jeev Milkha Singh in the final leg of the IGPL Tour taking place in Colombo, Sri Lanka.


This tournament is set to be a thrilling conclusion to an inaugural season filled with impressive performances and historic milestones, as highlighted in a statement from the IGPL.


Making his debut in this event is former Asian Tour No. 1 Jyot Randhawa, who, along with Jeev, also participates in the European Legends Tour.


With such a talented lineup, golf fans can anticipate a high-caliber competition as the tour reaches its grand finale on an international platform.


Gaganjeet Bhullar showcased his talent by winning the first two events at Chandigarh and Jaypee Greens, setting a remarkable benchmark for the tour.


Veteran player SSP Chawrasia, a six-time Asian Tour champion, has consistently participated throughout the season, bringing his extensive experience and competitive spirit to each event. Recently, Gaganjeet Bhullar secured third place at the IGPL Invitational in Ahmedabad after balancing commitments on the International Series and Asian Tour, along with family obligations.


Aman Raj, the leader in the Order of Merit, has been the standout performer this season, achieving victories in Jaipur and Kolkata with exceptional golf. The 30-year-old recorded impressive rounds of 9-under 61 three times in just four rounds, showcasing his consistency and skill that have propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. With earnings exceeding Rs. 60 lakhs, Aman is at the forefront of a competitive field that includes Pukhraj Singh Gill, who celebrated his first professional title with a remarkable nine-shot win at Jamshedpur, and Kapil Kumar, the champion from Pune.


The Colombo finale is pivotal as players compete for the prestigious Order of Merit title and the associated rewards, which include spots in the International Series India and Asian Tour Qualifying, according to the release.


A highlight of the season occurred at Mumbai's Bombay Presidency Golf Club, where Pranavi Urs made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a professional tournament against male competitors. In her IGPL debut, she delivered an outstanding bogey-free 8-under 60 in the final round, overcoming a two-shot deficit to defeat her boyfriend, Karandeep Kochhar, by two strokes. Her victory received widespread recognition, with IOA President PT Usha commending her achievement as evidence that "champions transcend gender."


Ridhima Dilawari, another skilled female golfer, will also participate in Colombo, joining a diverse field of 47 professionals and 13 amateurs from India and Sri Lanka, ensuring that the tour concludes with the inclusive spirit that has characterized its inaugural season.
