Pranavi Urs Shines at Joburg Ladies Open; Agathe Laisne Claims Victory
Pranavi Urs: The Sole Indian Golfer to Make the Cut
Pranavi Urs concluded her week at the Joburg Ladies Open with a commendable performance, finishing tied for 36th place after scoring a 1-under 72. As the only Indian golfer to advance past the cut, her round was a mix of highs and lows, featuring an impressive four-hole sequence from the second to the fifth, where she achieved a par, birdie, eagle, and bogey. In total, her round comprised two birdies, one eagle, and three bogeys.
Unfortunately, the other Indian competitors—Diksha Dagar, Tvesa Malik, Avani Prashanth, and Hitaashee Bakshi—were unable to make the cut.
Agathe Laisne Triumphs in a Thrilling Playoff
In a dramatic turn of events, France's Agathe Laisne secured her second title of the Ladies European Tour (LET) season with a thrilling playoff win against Australia's Kirsten Rudgeley. The trio, including South Africa's Casandra Alexander, ended regulation play tied at 19-under par after 72 holes, leading to a playoff at Randpark Golf Club.
Despite a strong performance with a 7-under 66, Alexander was eliminated on the first playoff hole after failing to match the birdies made by Laisne and Rudgeley at the par-5 18th.
The playoff continued with Laisne and Rudgeley matching each other shot for shot as daylight dwindled. Rudgeley narrowly missed a seven-foot birdie putt that could have clinched her victory on the third playoff hole.
As light faded, the 18th hole was shortened to a 78-yard pitch. Laisne capitalized on this opportunity, landing her shot within 10 feet and successfully sinking the birdie putt, while Rudgeley's eight-foot attempt went astray, granting Laisne the win.
This victory marks Laisne's second in just two months, following her success at the Ford Women's NSW Open in Australia. Celine Herbin finished in fourth place at 16-under par, while England's Cara Gainer and Slovenia's Pia Babnik shared fifth at 15-under. The Ladies European Tour will next head to Cape Town for the Investec SA Women's Open.
