Pranavi Urs' Performance at Joburg Ladies Open

Johannesburg [South Africa], April 21: Pranavi Urs concluded her week at the Joburg Ladies Open with a solid performance, finishing tied for 36th place after scoring a 1-under 72.

As the sole Indian golfer to make the cut, Urs had a round filled with ups and downs, particularly during an impressive four-hole sequence from the second to the fifth, where she achieved a par, a birdie, an eagle, and a bogey. Her overall performance included two birdies, one eagle, and three bogeys.

Unfortunately, the other Indian competitors—Diksha Dagar, Tvesa Malik, Avani Prashanth, and Hitaashee Bakshi—were unable to make the cut.

In a thrilling finish, France's Agathe Laisne secured her second title of the Ladies European Tour (LET) season, triumphing in a playoff against Australia's Kirsten Rudgeley. Both players, along with South Africa's Casandra Alexander, ended regulation play tied at 19-under par after 72 holes, leading to a playoff at Randpark Golf Club.

Alexander, who had a strong 7-under 66, was eliminated on the first playoff hole after failing to match the birdies of Laisne and Rudgeley at the par-5 18th.

The playoff continued with Laisne and Rudgeley trading shots as daylight dwindled. Rudgeley narrowly missed a seven-foot birdie putt for the win on the third playoff hole. With light fading, the 18th hole was shortened to a 78-yard pitch. Laisne capitalized on this, landing her shot within 10 feet and successfully sinking the birdie putt, while Rudgeley missed her eight-foot attempt, granting victory to Laisne. This win marks Laisne's second in just two months, following her success at the Ford Women’s NSW Open in Australia.

Celine Herbin finished in fourth place at 16-under par, while England's Cara Gainer and Slovenia's Pia Babnik shared fifth at 15-under.

The Ladies European Tour is set to continue in Cape Town for the upcoming Investec SA Women’s Open.
