Pramod Bhagat Shines at Spanish Para Badminton International with Two Golds and a Silver

On Sunday, Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat showcased an incredible display at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2026- II, securing two gold medals and one silver for India.
In the men's singles SL3 final, Bhagat faced off against his fellow countryman Nitesh Kumar, triumphing in a nail-biting match that lasted 51 minutes with scores of 21-17, 10-21, 21-18.
Continuing his success, Bhagat teamed up with Manisha Ramdass in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event. After dropping the first set, the duo made a remarkable comeback to defeat Brazil's Rogerio Junior Xavier de Oliveira and Edwarda De Oliveira Dias with scores of 13-21, 21-12, 21-19.
In addition to his golds, Bhagat earned a silver medal in the men's doubles SL3-SU5, partnering with Sukant Kadam. They finished as runners-up against fellow Indians Nitesh Kumar and Ruthick Ragupathi, with a score of 19-21, 14-21.
Reflecting on the tournament, Bhagat stated, "This competition tested my patience and resilience. The singles final was intense, and I had to push through after losing the second set. I'm pleased with how I maintained my composure during critical moments. Winning two golds here boosts my confidence for future competitions."
Sukant Kadam also excelled, clinching gold in the men's singles SL4 final by defeating Korea's Cho Nadan with a score of 21-16, 21-17. Kadam expressed, "I felt in control throughout the match and executed my game plan effectively. This gold is a testament to my hard work, and I aim to carry this momentum into upcoming tournaments."
India's impressive performance was evident across various categories. Nitesh Kumar secured a silver medal, while Jagdish Dilli earned bronze in the men's singles SL3.
Neeraj added to the medal tally with a bronze in women's singles SL3.
In men's doubles SL3-SU5, Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Kuldeep Mahkul also took home bronze.
In mixed doubles SL3-SU5, the pairs of Shivam Yadav & Neeraj and Nitesh Kumar & Thulasimathi Murugesan both achieved bronze medals.
Ruthick Ragupathi (silver) and Shivam Yadav (bronze) delivered commendable performances in men's singles SU5.
In the women's singles SU5, Manisha Ramdass secured gold, while Thulasimathi Murugesan earned silver.
Jatin Azad and Shivam Yadav won bronze in men's doubles SU5, and Manisha Patel added another bronze in women's singles SH6.
