PPA Tour's European Debut

The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour is making its entry into Europe, with its inaugural tournament scheduled to take place in Portoroz, Slovenia, from July 22 to 26, 2026. Player registrations are now open for individuals of all skill levels, providing a chance to compete in both professional and amateur divisions while accumulating ranking points on the global stage.

The Portoroz tournament will showcase a comprehensive PRO program, featuring men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events, in addition to amateur competitions categorized by skill level and age groups ranging from 18 to 70 years. This structure is anticipated to draw a wide array of participants as the PPA broadens its international footprint.

PPA's Global Outreach

This expansion into Europe aligns with the PPA's larger global strategy. Earlier this year, Sydney hosted the kickoff event for the 2026 PPA Tour Australia, where 451 players participated over four days at Central Pick and Pickle Point. This tournament marked a transition to permanent facilities, with specially designed courts replacing temporary ones, emphasizing the PPA's commitment to investing in new markets.

Asia is also becoming a significant area for growth. The PPA Tour Asia has recently formed partnerships with prominent equipment brands such as Facolos, Franklin, and Paddletek, indicating a growing commercial confidence in the region's developing pickleball landscape. World No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters expressed her enthusiasm for Asia's potential during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, stating, “I plan to travel to Asia later in 2026 to compete in the PPA Tour Asia.” Her comments reflect the increasing interest among elite players in exploring new competitive arenas.

Additionally, the MB Hanoi Cup in Vietnam is set to launch the PPA Tour Asia season from April 1 to 5, with seedings to be announced on March 18. As the PPA solidifies its presence in Italy and expands into Europe, the Portoroz tournament represents another significant milestone in the sport's swift global advancement.
