Poosit Supupramai Claims Victory at Inaugural Bharath Classic Golf Tournament
Poosit Secures Win at Bharath Classic
In a thrilling finish at the Kensville Golf Resort, Thailand's Poosit Supupramai clinched the title of the inaugural $500,000 Bharath Classic Gujarat, edging out South Korea's Wooyoung Cho by a single stroke on Sunday.
Poosit, who carded a 69, made a crucial birdie on the final hole, while Cho, with a remarkable 65, fell just short. Indian golfer Sachin Baisoya delivered an impressive performance, shooting a 10-under 62, which featured two remarkable birdie streaks—one with six consecutive birdies and another with four.
Baisoya's stellar play allowed him to tie for third place, marking him as the top Indian finisher in this event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL).
Poosit's First Asian Tour Victory
With a total score of 18-under par 270, Poosit's final round secured him his first victory on the Asian Tour, while Cho finished at 17-under 271. This win also guarantees Poosit a card for the Asian Tour.
Baisoya, a regular on the IGPL Tour, finished tied at 15-under alongside overnight leader Jazz Janewattananond, Panuphol Pittayarat, and Ekpharit Wu, all from Thailand.
Strong Performance from Indian Players
Despite not securing a home victory, the Indian contingent had a commendable week, with four players finishing in the Top 10 and eight in the Top 20.
Baisoya's third-place finish was complemented by Yuvraj Sandhu, who placed seventh with a score of 14-under 274. Ahmedabad amateur Ishaan Chawhan, despite a slower final round of 71, finished tied for eighth at 13-under, alongside IGPL Order of Merit leader Aman Raj and two Thai players.
Pukhraj Singh Gill ended tied for 12th at 12-under, while Ajeetesh Sandhu and Khalin Joshi both finished tied for 17th at 11-under.
