Prime Minister Modi Congratulates Women's Trap Team

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Manisha Keer, Neeru Dhanda, and Aashima Ahlawat for clinching the silver medal in the Women's Trap Team event at the Asian Games. He commended their dedication and teamwork, which led to a combined score of 328. The gold medal was secured by China with a score of 346, while Kuwait took home the bronze with 325. Notably, Dhanda emerged as India's top performer in this event, achieving a score of 118 out of 125.

PM Modi Recognizes Dhanda's Historic Gold Achievement

In addition to celebrating the team, PM Modi also acknowledged Neeru Dhanda for her groundbreaking achievement as the first Indian woman to win an individual Trap Gold at the Asian Games. He praised her accuracy and composure, emphasizing that her success would inspire future generations of shooters.

"Neeru Dhanda has given India a historic moment to celebrate! Congratulations to her on becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual Gold in Trap at the Asian Games. Her exceptional accuracy and composure have brought immense pride to the nation. This achievement will encourage many more young sportspersons to take up shooting and aim for the highest honors," he remarked.

Dhanda's Exceptional Performance

Dhanda delivered an outstanding performance to secure the women's individual trap gold medal at the Asian Games 2026, marking India's fifth gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. She excelled in both the qualification and final rounds. Starting strong, Dhanda hit all five targets in her opening series. Although she missed one in the second series, she quickly regained her focus and maintained her position. In the final stages, she achieved a perfect series in the third round, moving back to the lead and finishing with 19 hits out of 20 shots after four series. After 25 shots, Dhanda led Sun 23-21, with Hajar also on 21 before being eliminated. She maintained her composure in the final moments to secure the gold medal.
