Pickleball's Surge Sparks Health Awareness Initiatives in the U.S.
Growing Popularity of Pickleball and Its Impact
The swift rise of pickleball in the United States is garnering interest beyond just sports, as various brands and healthcare organizations leverage the game to engage with both active and older demographics. A notable collaboration has emerged between hearing care provider Phonak and USA Pickleball, launching a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting awareness about hearing health and active living.
As reported by Hearing Health Matters, this campaign, named “Hear to Win,” was unveiled at the American Academy of Audiology Conference 2026 held in San Antonio. The goal of the initiative is to motivate individuals to adopt a proactive stance towards hearing care, emphasizing the connection between hearing health, communication, social engagement, and athletic performance.
During the conference, Christine Jones, Vice President of Marketing at Sonova, highlighted the strategy to utilize pickleball's growing popularity to reach consumers nationwide. With approximately 20 million players participating in pickleball across the U.S., the campaign will feature tournament events, hearing screenings, product demonstrations, and outreach programs aimed at linking players with local hearing care professionals.
The initiative also aims to highlight hearing technology as a vital resource for enhancing both athletic performance and daily communication, especially in lively and social settings. As pickleball continues to gain traction in the U.S., it is evolving into a platform for brands, wellness initiatives, and community engagement efforts that extend beyond mere competition.
