Phil Salt, the explosive opener who played a pivotal role in leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to their first IPL championship in 2025, is currently making headlines in England with his remarkable batting skills. His outstanding form has helped his team secure two victories within just two days, showcasing his ability to hit massive sixes, including one that even shattered a hotel window. Currently, Salt is representing Lancashire in the Vitality Blast T20 league.
In a recent match against Derbyshire, Salt opened the innings and scored 44 runs off 35 balls, hitting two sixes and a four. One of his sixes has gone viral, as it not only cleared the boundary but also broke a hotel window.
This impressive six came during the 13th over of Lancashire's innings, off the bowling of Derbyshire's fast bowler Pat Brown. Earlier in the tournament, Salt had also scored a quick 80 runs against Northamptonshire, hitting eight fours and four sixes, contributing to Lancashire's consecutive wins.
Lancashire's Victory Over Derbyshire
In the match against Derbyshire, Lancashire batted first, scoring 178 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Besides Salt, Liam Livingstone contributed with a brisk 35 runs off 23 balls, while Aston Turner added 31 runs off 19 balls. Derbyshire's Jack Chapel was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Chasing a target of 179 runs, Derbyshire managed only 136 runs, losing by 42 runs.
Wayne Madsen was the top scorer for Derbyshire, making 53 runs off 40 balls, while Jack Chapel scored 34 runs off 26 balls. However, no other batsman could make a significant impact. For Lancashire, Luke Wood took three wickets for 25 runs, and Chris Green claimed two wickets for 26 runs.
