Pat Cummins Reflects on SRH's Struggles After Heavy Defeat to Gujarat Titans
Pat Cummins Acknowledges Tough Conditions
Following the Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) 82-run loss to the Gujarat Titans in their IPL match in Ahmedabad, captain Pat Cummins expressed that the batting conditions were challenging. He praised the Gujarat Titans for their impressive bowling display during the T20 encounter. Despite the setback, Cummins remained optimistic about his batting lineup, emphasizing their consistent performances throughout the season. He noted that the team's five to six victories have provided them with some leeway in the tournament.
"It appeared to be a tough wicket. The Gujarat Titans executed a commendable T20 bowling strategy. Our batting has been exceptional, with over 400 runs scored. Winning five or six matches has given us some breathing space," Cummins remarked post-match.
SRH's Disappointing Collapse
In a surprising turn of events, SRH faced a significant collapse, leading to an 82-run defeat against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. After successfully limiting the Gujarat Titans to 168/5 through disciplined bowling, SRH struggled in their batting response, getting bowled out for a mere 86 runs in just 14.5 overs. The Titans' pace bowlers dismantled the SRH batting order with remarkable efficiency.
Current Standings and Match Records
With this victory, Gujarat Titans have ascended to the top of the points table with 16 points, while SRH holds the third position with 14 points. The 86 runs scored by SRH marked the second-lowest all-out total against GT, following LSG's 82 runs in Pune in 2022. Additionally, this 82-run victory represents the Titans' largest win margin in IPL history, surpassing their previous 77-run victory against the Rajasthan Royals earlier this season. This match also recorded SRH's lowest all-out total in IPL history, marking the first instance since 2024 that SRH failed to chase down a target below 200 runs.
