Pat Cummins and Travis Head Set to Rejoin Sunrisers Hyderabad Ahead of IPL Resumption

Australian Stars Return for IPL 2025
Pat Cummins and Travis Head, the Australian cricket duo, are anticipated to rejoin the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume on May 17, as reported by a sports news outlet.
The 18th season of the lucrative league was temporarily halted due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now confirmed that the tournament will continue this Saturday in Bengaluru.
Inclusion in Australia's WTC Final Squad
On Tuesday morning, both Cummins and Head were selected for Australia's squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa, which is scheduled to start on June 11. There were initial concerns regarding their participation since Hyderabad has already been eliminated from playoff contention.
Reports indicate that Cummins, who captains SRH, and Head have communicated their intention to return to India. Cummins' manager, Neil Maxwell, confirmed that the Australian Test captain is eager to make the trip back.
"Pat has a duty as the franchise captain and is keen on returning," Maxwell stated to a media channel on Tuesday.
Uncertainty Surrounding Other Overseas Players
As of now, there is no confirmation regarding the return of other overseas players such as Heinrich Klaasen, Eshan Malinga, Kamindu Mendis, and Wiaan Mulder to SRH. Notably, Mulder has been included in South Africa's squad for the WTC final against Australia.
Hyderabad, who were the runners-up last year, have struggled in the 2025 season. Their batting lineup, typically known for its explosive hitting, has faltered, except for their opening match against the Rajasthan Royals.
Currently, SRH sits in eighth place on the points table with only three victories from 11 matches. They will finish their season with three away games: against LSG in Lucknow on May 19, RCB in Bengaluru on May 23, and KKR in Delhi on May 25.
