Oman Captain Advocates for Fearless Play
Jatinder Singh, the captain of the Oman men's cricket team, emphasized the importance of playing fearless cricket as they prepare for the ICC Men's T20I World Cup, which kicks off on February 7. Oman is placed in Group B, competing against Ireland, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Australia. The top two teams from this group will advance to the Super 8 stage.
During a media briefing for captains held in Colombo on Thursday, Singh remarked, "We find ourselves in a challenging group for associate teams. Our squad is strong, but we must adopt a fearless and positive approach to progress to the next round." He also praised head coach Duleep Mendis for his significant contributions to Oman's cricketing success, stating, "Duleep has been an incredible coach and mentor since 2012, and his extensive knowledge of the pitches will be invaluable to us."
Netherlands Captain Eager for World Cup Matches
Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, expressed enthusiasm for his team's upcoming matches in the tournament. The Netherlands is in Group A alongside defending champions India, Pakistan, Namibia, and the USA. "We are genuinely excited. Each group is strong in its own way, and playing against India in Ahmedabad will be a significant occasion. The team has prepared well, and we are eager to start our first game," he stated.
Edwards added, "The World Cup in India and Sri Lanka is thrilling. Every World Cup brings excitement. Our primary objective is to advance past the initial stage, so we are concentrating on our first four matches." Regarding their chances of winning the trophy, he noted, "Winning the first three or four games is crucial to giving ourselves a shot at the title."
