Amit Rohidas Takes a Step Towards Sustainability
Bhubaneswar: Indian hockey star and Olympian Amit Rohidas has taken a significant step towards sustainability by installing a rooftop solar system at his home, benefiting from the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative has notably lowered the installation expenses while promising long-term savings on electricity costs. Rohidas's decision mirrors the increasing trust among consumers in adopting eco-friendly energy solutions promoted by the Government of India’s solar initiative. He shared his thoughts, stating, “In sports, every moment counts, and similarly, every unit of electricity is crucial for our household.”
Through the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, he received a subsidy of Rs 1.38 lakh, expressing gratitude towards the government for such a beneficial program. He also acknowledged TPCODL for their support in the installation process. Rohidas remarked, “With solar energy, my worries about electricity bills have vanished. Just as discipline is vital in sports, solar energy is essential for our future. This is a wise choice. Focus on your aspirations while letting the sun energize your home. I have installed solar panels, and you can too, to cut down on your electricity expenses.” His initiative is anticipated to motivate numerous households in Odisha to transition to clean energy and take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which provides attractive subsidies for rooftop solar setups while promoting environmental sustainability.
Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL, commented on this initiative, stating, “We are thrilled to witness prominent athletes like Amit Rohidas adopting rooftop solar and advocating for sustainable energy solutions.
