Olly Stone to Miss Upcoming Test Series Due to Knee Surgery

England's fast bowler Olly Stone is set to miss the upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe and India due to a knee injury that requires surgery. After experiencing significant discomfort during a pre-season tour, scans revealed the need for an operation, which will keep him sidelined for 14 weeks. Stone, who has previously taken 17 Test wickets, will begin rehabilitation with the ECB and Nottinghamshire medical teams. His absence will be felt as he is unlikely to participate in the series starting June 20, but he is expected to return by August 2025.

Olly Stone's Injury Update

London [UK], April 4: England's right-arm fast bowler Olly Stone will be absent from the forthcoming Test series against Zimbabwe and India following a surgical procedure on his right knee. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reported that he will undergo a rehabilitation period of 14 weeks.

Last year, Stone took seven wickets in two Test matches against Sri Lanka on home soil. He was included in the England squad for the Test series against Pakistan and New Zealand but did not get the opportunity to play in either series.

During Nottinghamshire's pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi this March, Stone experienced significant pain in his right knee.

Subsequent medical scans indicated that surgery was necessary, which is scheduled for later this week, putting the 31-year-old out of action for approximately 14 weeks.

He will commence his rehabilitation process, collaborating closely with the medical teams from both the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Nottinghamshire.

Stone has participated in five Test matches and ten One Day Internationals (ODIs), and he is likely to miss the five-match series against India that begins on June 20.

With 17 Test wickets to his name, Stone joins fellow fast bowler Mark Wood on the injury list, who was ruled out earlier this year. However, Stone is anticipated to be fit for selection by August 2025.
