Kataka: On Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially launched the inaugural 'Odisha T20 League CM Trophy' at Barabati Stadium, emphasizing that this tournament will serve as a vital platform for local cricketing talent to shine.

The state has previously hosted similar events for sports like football, kho-kho, kabaddi, and volleyball.

CM Majhi remarked that sports have evolved beyond mere competitions, becoming avenues for successful careers, and highlighted the significant changes in India's sports scene over the past decade.

He noted that the involvement of cricket legends Suresh Raina and Odisha's own Debashis Mohanty as ambassadors for the league will motivate aspiring players. The tournament aims to discover cricketing talent from rural areas across 30 districts, offering them a substantial platform to display their abilities.

To enhance sports facilities in Odisha, the government has earmarked Rs 4,124 crore for the development of modern stadiums in all 314 blocks of the state. Additionally, a cutting-edge sports complex is set to be constructed in Gothapatana, Bhubaneswar.

CM Majhi also expressed his administration's dedication to fully renovating Barabati Stadium, aiming to elevate it to one of the leading sports venues in the country.
