Djokovic's Quarterfinal Match Highlights

On July 9, Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic, currently ranked World No. 6, captivated the audience at Centre Court during his quarterfinal clash against Italy's Flavio Cobolli at Wimbledon 2025. After a tense match lasting three hours and 11 minutes, Djokovic emerged victorious with a score of 6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4, securing his place in the semifinals for the 14th time at a grass-court Grand Slam, surpassing Roger Federer's previous record of 13 semifinal appearances at Wimbledon.

Match Dynamics

In the initial set, Djokovic appeared slightly out of sync, allowing Cobolli to take the lead by winning the tiebreak 8-6. However, the seasoned champion quickly regained his composure, dominating the subsequent three sets to clinch the match and advance to the semifinals.

The Fall That Shocked the Crowd

Despite his victory, Djokovic's match was marred by a concerning fall during the fourth set while he was on match point. As he chased a forehand from Cobolli, he slipped on the thick grass, leading to an awkward fall that left the audience in shock. Fortunately, Djokovic managed to recover and stretch his left leg after the incident.

In a display of sportsmanship, Cobolli approached Djokovic to offer assistance, showcasing the camaraderie between the players.

Injury Concerns at Wimbledon

This incident is not isolated, as the tournament has seen other injury scares. Bulgarian player Grigor Dimitrov withdrew from his match against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner due to a muscle injury, while Sinner himself experienced a fall but continued to compete in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic Reflects on His Fall

In the post-match press conference, Djokovic expressed surprise at his fall, acknowledging that his body is not as resilient as it once was. He remarked, "I did not fall so far this year. It is surprising because of the way I move on grass - very aggressive. Obviously, the body is not the same today like it was before, so I guess the real impact or effect of what happened I will feel tomorrow."

Looking ahead, Djokovic is set to face Jannik Sinner in his 52nd Grand Slam semifinal, aiming for his record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.
