Djokovic Dominates McDonald in First Round

Novak Djokovic faced challenging weather conditions, including strong winds and light rain, but he encountered minimal resistance from American player Mackenzie McDonald. Djokovic smoothly advanced to the second round of the French Open on Tuesday, marking the beginning of his quest for a historic 25th Grand Slam title.

The sixth-seeded Serbian, who recently celebrated his 100th career title in Geneva, showcased his prowess with a commanding 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victory on the same court where he secured singles gold at the Paris Olympics last year. "Returning here a year later feels fantastic. I’m uncertain how many more Grand Slams I have left, but this one is particularly special," Djokovic remarked.

"I feel great, and even better here as I can relive the Olympic experience. Today’s match was solid across all three sets. I know I can elevate my game further, but I’m pleased with my performance. The opportunity to create more history is my greatest motivation to continue improving and competing here."

After parting ways with coach Andy Murray a few weeks ago, Djokovic appears to have regained his form. He broke McDonald at 2-2 and, following a brief delay due to the weather, surged ahead to a 5-2 lead.

Despite another interruption for the roof closure on the Philippe Chatrier court, Djokovic maintained his focus and secured the first set with his serve. A break at the beginning of the second set solidified the 38-year-old's control, leaving the 98th-ranked American with a significant challenge ahead.
