Contract Extension for Head Coach Juan Pedro Benali
New Delhi [India] - NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) has officially announced a two-year extension of head coach Juan Pedro Benali's contract, ensuring his presence at the club until the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, as reported on the Indian Super League's official website.
Since joining the team in May 2023, Benali has initiated a significant transformation at NorthEast United FC, making an immediate and substantial impact that has propelled the team to new heights.
In his inaugural role, he led the Highlanders to the semi-finals of the prestigious Durand Cup and brought the club within a single point of qualifying for the ISL playoffs, establishing a solid groundwork for future achievements.
This season has seen a remarkable revival under Benali's guidance, culminating in the club's historic victory in the Durand Cup, marking the first major trophy in NorthEast United FC's history.
Additionally, the team has secured a place in the Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs after a four-year absence, demonstrating significant advancement and fulfilling the hopes of fans throughout the Northeast. The Highlanders concluded the ISL season in fourth place, earning a 'home advantage' for the playoffs, where they will face Jamshedpur FC.
Following this announcement, NorthEast United FC owner John Abraham expressed his enthusiasm for Benali's continued leadership and shared his satisfaction with the manager's commitment to the club.

After two seasons, I feel at home here with this amazing group of players, the coaching staff, and everyone involved. We are one big family, progressing in the right direction, and together we can create something meaningful that our fans will cherish.”
CEO Mandar Tamhane supported Abraham's views, highlighting the significance of stability within the organization.
