North Delhi Strikers Kick Off DPL 2026 with a Win

The North Delhi Strikers commenced their Women's Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 journey on a high note, securing a victory against the East Delhi Riders by nine wickets, finishing the match with over five overs remaining.

East Delhi Riders Struggle with Batting

Batting first, the East Delhi Riders faced challenges against a well-organized North Delhi bowling lineup, managing to score only 101 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

The Riders faced an early setback, losing two wickets quickly and finding themselves at 17/2. A partnership between Vanshika Lila and Sonakshi added 30 runs for the third wicket, but Lila's dismissal in the 10th over for 26 runs off 24 balls led to another batting collapse.

The East Delhi team continued to lose wickets consistently, failing to establish any significant partnerships as the innings progressed. Nazma stood out among the North Delhi bowlers, taking 2 wickets for just 15 runs in four overs, while Reshika Beniwal also claimed two wickets, conceding 25 runs. Apeksha Anand delivered an impressive performance, finishing with figures of 1/10 in three overs.

Dominant Performance by Sharma and Archana

In pursuit of a modest target of 102 runs, the North Delhi Strikers lost Upasana Yadav early in the innings but quickly regained control. Shivi Sharma and Archana formed a formidable partnership, confidently steering their team towards victory.

The pair put together an unbeaten 92-run partnership for the second wicket, effectively taking the match away from the East Delhi Riders. Shivi Sharma reached a well-earned half-century, while Archana contributed significantly with an unbeaten 38 runs off 32 balls.

Ultimately, North Delhi completed the chase with ease, achieving a convincing nine-wicket win and marking a strong beginning to their DPL 2026 campaign.
