New Zealand Achieves First Win in T20I Series

Auckland [New Zealand], October 30: New Zealand celebrated their first victory in the five-match T20I series against India, winning by 87 runs in Auckland on Friday. This win brings the series score to 3-1 in favor of India, with one match remaining. Glenn Phillips was the star of the match, scoring 107 runs off 49 balls, while Michael Bracewell contributed 65 runs off 25 balls. New Zealand posted a formidable total of 259/7, the highest ever against India. Jacob Duffy's impressive bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 23 runs, helped restrict India to just 172 runs in their innings.

India's chase began poorly, losing Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan early, leaving them at 4/2 within the first over. Shreyas Iyer and Abhishek Sharma attempted to stabilize the innings, but wickets continued to tumble. Axar Patel and Nitish Kumar Reddy were left unbeaten as India ended their innings at 172/9.

Duffy's exceptional bowling and the contributions from Santner and Fisher ensured New Zealand's dominant win.

New Zealand's Batting Dominance

New Zealand's batting was led by Glenn Phillips, who scored a remarkable century, and Michael Bracewell, who provided a quick-fire half-century. Their total of 259/7 marked a significant achievement, especially considering India's bowlers have struggled this year, allowing 200-plus scores on 11 occasions.

After a shaky start, New Zealand recovered with a strong partnership between Phillips and Finn Allen, who helped propel the score to 67/2 by the end of the powerplay. Despite losing Allen, Phillips and Bracewell formed a formidable partnership, scoring 115 runs off just 40 balls, which is the highest 100-plus partnership against India.

Phillips reached his century with a six off Arshdeep Singh, who later claimed his 150th T20I wicket by dismissing Mitchell Santner. Phillips was eventually out for 107 runs, concluding New Zealand's innings at 259/7.

Brief Scores: New Zealand: 259/7 (Glenn Phillips 107, Michael Bracewell 65, Mayank Yadav 3/48) defeated India: 172 (Tilak Varma 35, Naman Dhir 28, Jacob Duffy 4/23).
