Neeraj Chopra's Upcoming Competitions

New Delhi, June 6: Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion in javelin throw, is gearing up for the Paris Diamond League 2025, which is set to take place on June 20 at Stade Sebastien-Charlety, as reported by a sports news outlet.

This will mark Neeraj's second appearance in the Diamond League this season, following his participation in Doha. He returns to the Paris event after an eight-year hiatus, with his last participation dating back to 2017. In that event, he achieved a throw of 84.67m, finishing fifth, while Germany's Johannes Vetter claimed first place with a throw of 88.74m. Although Neeraj was initially slated to compete in the 2024 edition, he opted out to focus on his training for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Earlier this year, Neeraj set a new national record with an impressive throw of 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League in May, surpassing his previous best of 89.94m, which he achieved at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022. Despite this remarkable feat, he finished second to Germany's Julian Weber, who threw 91.06m.

His latest performance was at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Chorzow, Poland, on May 23, where he faced challenging weather conditions. Neeraj managed a best throw of 84.14m on his final attempt, securing second place behind Weber, who topped the event with an 86.12m throw.

The 27-year-old athlete began his 2025 season in April, clinching victory at the Potch Invitational Meet in Potchefstroom, South Africa, with a throw of 84.52m.

Neeraj is also scheduled to compete in the Golden Spike athletics meet in Czechia on June 24 and will headline the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5.

At the conclusion of the Diamond League series, the javelin throwers with the highest points will qualify for the Diamond League 2025 Final, which is set to occur in Zurich on August 27-28.
