Neeraj Chopra Celebrates Roger Federer’s Legacy at Wimbledon

Neeraj Chopra's Tribute to Roger Federer
London: Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist, expressed his admiration for tennis icon Roger Federer, highlighting his excellence on the court and his gracious character off it.
Chopra attended the men's singles final at the All England Club, where Jannik Sinner faced Carlos Alcaraz. He reminisced about Federer, who holds the record for the most grass-court Grand Slam titles, with eight championships, including five consecutive wins from 2003 to 2007.
"I’m feeling great. This is my first tennis event, and it’s Wimbledon, so I’m truly enjoying the experience. I recall how Federer would don that grass coat during his victories, and we were aware of the tradition of the all-white dress code. It always made me feel good to watch him," the javelin thrower shared with Star Sports.
"Roger Federer is incredibly inspiring, both in his gameplay and as a person. I had the chance to meet him in Zurich last year, and we had a wonderful conversation. It was a delightful experience. His style of play was remarkable," he added.
Chopra also paid tribute to Rafael Nadal, who has secured 22 Grand Slam titles, including two at Wimbledon, praising his relentless spirit.
"I must mention Nadal as well. He played exceptionally well, and his determination and never-give-up attitude are qualities I greatly admire," he remarked.
"Nadal distinguished himself with his physical strength, setting him apart from many other players. He possessed a fighter's spirit and had a muscular build. He didn’t fit the typical image of a tennis player; he looked powerful. I have always regarded Nadal as an exceptional player."
In the men's singles final, Sinner triumphed over Alcaraz with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, claiming his first Wimbledon Grand Slam title.
