NECO Master Blaster's Strong Start
In an exciting match at the VCA Civil Lines Ground in Nagpur on Sunday, the NECO Master Blaster women's team made a remarkable comeback to defeat the Pagariya Strikers by seven runs during the Vidarbha Women's Premier League (VPL) 2026.
Setting a Challenging Target
NECO Master Blaster batted first, scoring a solid 133 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Shraddha Nabira played a pivotal role, scoring 31 runs off 23 balls, including three fours and a six. Other notable contributions came from Snehal Maniyar (18), Diya Bhagwat (18), Nupur Kohale (17 not out), and Arya Gohane (16), which helped the team set a competitive total.
Strikers' Chase and Unexpected Turnaround
During the chase, the Pagariya Strikers seemed to be on track for victory. Sanskruti Sant was the standout performer, scoring 48 runs off 36 balls, supported by Ankita Bhongade (18) and Srishty Wandalkar (16). With wickets in hand and the required run rate manageable, the Strikers appeared poised to win.
However, the game took a dramatic turn in the 18th over when NECO Master Blaster struck back, taking two vital wickets in quick succession, including a bowled dismissal and a run-out at the non-striker's end. This sudden shift in momentum proved crucial.
Victory Secured Through Team Effort
Under pressure, NECO's bowlers and fielders maintained their composure. Nupur Kohale was exceptional with the ball, taking three wickets, while Yashshri Soley contributed with two wickets. The fielding unit was also instrumental, executing four run-outs that disrupted the Strikers' chase.
Ultimately, Pagariya Strikers were bowled out for 126 runs in 20 overs, resulting in a seven-run victory for NECO Master Blaster. The team is set to face the Orange Tigresses next on Monday.
