Mumbai Star Angkrish Raghuvanshi Suffers Serious Neck Injury During Vijay Hazare Trophy Match
Angkrish Raghuvanshi's Injury Raises Concerns for Mumbai Team
On December 26, during a match against Uttarakhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Mumbai's prominent batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi sustained a severe neck injury. The 21-year-old player was injured while fielding, affecting both his neck and shoulder. Reports indicate that he was carried off the field on a stretcher and admitted to a hospital in Jaipur. The incident occurred during the 30th over of Uttarakhand's innings when Raghuvanshi attempted a slog sweep shot.
Details of the Incident
Positioned at deep mid-wicket, Raghuvanshi got injured while diving to catch the ball. In the first innings for Mumbai, he opened the batting alongside Rohit Sharma but struggled to make an impact, scoring just 11 runs off 20 balls before being dismissed. His teammate, Rohit Sharma, also faced a disappointing outing, returning to the pavilion without scoring. Raghuvanshi, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is regarded as one of the tournament's most promising talents.
Current Condition and Next Steps
In his previous match in the VH Trophy, Raghuvanshi had shown good form, scoring 38 runs against Sikkim. Notably, there was a delay in bringing the stretcher and ambulance to the field, during which Raghuvanshi appeared distressed and unable to move his neck. He has been taken to a nearby hospital for a CT scan, which will determine the severity of his injury.
