Mumbai Indians' Performance in IPL

The Mumbai Indians have clinched five IPL titles, yet they have never won a championship after competing in an eliminator match. In the 2025 season, they triumphed in the eliminator and advanced to Qualifier 2, but their historical performance in this stage has been less than stellar. The team has never won Qualifier 2 after securing victory in the eliminator.

Throughout their history, the Mumbai Indians have participated in Qualifier 2 four times. Surprisingly, they have won twice and lost twice. Notably, every time they reached Qualifier 2 after winning the eliminator, they faced defeat. This record is particularly concerning for the Mumbai Indians.

The playoffs began in 2011, and that season marked the first time the Mumbai Indians won an eliminator to reach Qualifier 2, only to suffer a defeat. In 2013, after losing to Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1, they managed to defeat Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2. Similarly, in 2017, after a loss to Rising Pune Super Giants in Qualifier 1, they overcame Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2.

Most recently, in 2023, the Mumbai Indians reached Qualifier 2 after defeating Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator, but they lost to Gujarat Titans in that match. Now, after winning the eliminator again, they are set to face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2.
