Exciting Atmosphere at Wankhede Stadium

MS Dhoni was among the notable personalities present at the second semi-final of the 2026 T20 World Cup, where India faced off against England at the renowned Wankhede Stadium. The former captain of the Indian cricket team was seen enjoying the match alongside his wife and even had a chance to meet Rohit Sharma, who serves as the brand ambassador for this prestigious ICC event and has been a regular attendee at various matches.

Fifteen years ago, Dhoni led India to victory in the ODI World Cup at this very venue, making his appearance at the semi-final a rare public sighting. Interestingly, his last T20 World Cup match was also played here against the West Indies in 2016. Alongside Dhoni and Rohit, KL Rahul was also spotted supporting the Indian team from the stands. Rahul, a consistent member of the ODI and Test squads, has not participated in T20 internationals since the 2022 World Cup, having been dropped from the T20I lineup following that tournament.

In addition to cricketers, several Bollywood stars were also seen in the audience. With India playing on home turf, they are favored to win this crucial knockout match.

England's Chase for Victory

England is tasked with chasing a formidable target of 254 runs against India. Thanks to an impressive innings from Sanju Samson, who scored 89 runs off just 42 balls, India set a challenging total of 253/7. Samson's performance included 7 sixes and 8 fours. Ishan Kishan contributed 39 runs off 18 balls, while Hardik Pandya added 27 runs from just 12 deliveries. Shivam Dube also played a significant role, scoring 43 runs off 25 balls.

The winner of this semi-final will advance to face New Zealand in the final, which is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. New Zealand secured their spot by defeating South Africa in the first semi-final held on March 4.
