Kohli's Remarkable Achievement

Monty Panesar, a former spinner for England, has commended Virat Kohli for reaching the milestone of 15,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He highlighted Kohli's relentless drive, intensity, and dedication to fitness. Panesar believes that Kohli's passion for cricket indicates that he still has a significant amount of play left in him, even though Kohli has announced that the upcoming ODI World Cup will be his final one.

Kohli's Future in Cricket

At the age of 37, Kohli has stated that the 2027 ODI World Cup will mark his last appearance in the format, leading many fans and analysts to speculate about his imminent retirement from ODIs.

"Virat Kohli remains incredibly driven. He plays with exceptional intensity, prioritizes his fitness, and inspires those around him. His training motivates me to hit the gym as well. Although he mentioned that this might be his last World Cup, that could be part of his approach. When you believe you have only a handful of games left, you tend to give your all in each match, treating every game as a significant event. Kohli approaches each moment with that mindset, striving to excel with every ball. Given his level of intensity, I doubt he will retire after the World Cup; I think he has much more cricket ahead of him," Panesar remarked.

Support for Rohit Sharma

Panesar also expressed his support for Rohit Sharma, the former captain of India, advocating for his inclusion in the ODI World Cup squad. He referred to Sharma as a "great player" and emphasized the importance of having a player of his caliber in the tournament.

"Rohit Sharma is indeed a fantastic player. When he is in form, he can be incredibly destructive at the crease. He is an aggressive batsman who can hit the ball far and plays with a focused mindset. His presence can significantly impact India's performance, and I believe he deserves the chance to secure his spot in the World Cup squad," Panesar added.
