Shami Discusses Retirement Plans

Mohammad Shami, the fast bowler for Lucknow Super Giants, has been away from the Indian team for a while but continues to shine in domestic cricket. Recently, he spoke candidly about his retirement plans, stating,

“I am not thinking about retirement right now because such thoughts can bring you down. If you have that thought in your mind, it means you are tired. And if you are tired, you are bored. I have already said that I will retire the day I get bored of cricket.”

Shami Responds to Ashwin's Criticism

In addition, Shami addressed comments made by former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who suggested that Lucknow Super Giants would not be champions this year. Responding to Ashwin, Shami remarked,

“What people say doesn’t matter. Making such statements doesn’t make one great.”

He further added,

“I speak plainly, and some people find it hard to digest. You don’t become great by rating others; you need to play good cricket.”

Defending His T20 Credentials

Shami also defended himself against critics who claim he is not suited for T20 cricket. He stated,

“Look at the records from the last 4-5 years; no Indian player is close to my stats. Yet, I am still labeled as not being a T20 bowler. In the past 5-6 years, I have taken around 130 wickets.”
