In an interview with Sky Sports, Moeen stated, "I think it will be Shubman Gill. The BCCI might prefer Jasprit Bumrah for the captaincy due to his leadership skills and previous experience. However, his injury history could prevent him from participating throughout the series." He further noted, "They will likely choose someone who has performed well in Test cricket. Although Gill is relatively inexperienced, he has shown promise as the captain of the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, which indicates his potential, though leading in English conditions will be a significant challenge."
