Mizoram Triumphs Over Uttar Pradesh
On Thursday, Mizoram clinched their place in the quarter-finals of the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men's National Football Championship by defeating Uttar Pradesh with a score of 6-1. The match took place at Ground 2 of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh. Mizoram only needed a draw to advance, and they started strong with Mesak C Lalrinngheta scoring an early penalty. However, Uttar Pradesh's Shahvez equalized with a goal in the 48th minute, as reported by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Second-Half Dominance
Following the equalizer, Mizoram intensified their efforts, with Vanlalramnghaka netting a remarkable hat-trick in the second half. Additionally, Eddi Lalhmangaihzuala and C Lalkhawgaiha each contributed a goal to the tally.
Group G Standings and Other Matches
Mizoram topped Group G with three victories from three matches, followed by Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh in that order. In another match within Group G at Ground 2 of the RKM Ashrama, Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh played to a thrilling 3-3 draw, although both teams were already eliminated from quarter-final contention.
Group F: SAI's Unstoppable Performance
In Group F, SAI had already secured the top position and a spot in the quarter-finals with a game remaining. They continued their impressive form in their final group stage match against Pondicherry, winning decisively with a score of 14-0 at Ground 1 of the RKM Ashrama. Meanwhile, Telangana and Gujarat, both of whom were also out of the running for progression, ended their match in an exciting 3-3 draw at Ground 1.
