Mitchell Starc Set to Make IPL Comeback: What to Expect from the Star Pacer?
Mitchell Starc Cleared for IPL Action
In Sydney, Cricket Australia has given the green light for Mitchell Starc to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The fast bowler is anticipated to join the Delhi Capitals for their match against the Rajasthan Royals on May 1.
Starc, a left-arm pacer, has been recovering from elbow and shoulder injuries since January. He played a pivotal role in the Ashes series, where he was named Player of the Series, and later appeared in five matches for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.
According to Cricket.com.au, Starc is expected to gradually increase his training intensity in India, aiming for his IPL debut in the upcoming match against the Royals.
The absence of the 36-year-old from the initial matches of the IPL raised questions about the dedication of international players. In response, Starc took to social media to address what he called 'heavily misinformed opinions' regarding his commitment.
In an Instagram post, he clarified, 'Despite the opinions of certain individuals in the Indian media, I am currently rehabilitating an injury to my shoulder and elbow, which I was unaware of during the Australian summer.'
He further criticized those making assumptions about his involvement in the IPL, stating, 'These individuals have made strong statements about my participation and presented misinformed opinions as facts, claiming to know my body better than I do.'
Last season, Starc was the leading bowler for the Delhi Capitals, taking 14 wickets in 11 matches.
Currently, the Capitals are positioned fifth in the points table, with three victories and three defeats from six games.
In other news, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins is also expected to make his season debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Josh Hazlewood has returned to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru after missing the early matches.
