Mitchell Owen Steps in for Glenn Maxwell

The Punjab Kings have officially announced the signing of Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen as a substitute for Glenn Maxwell, who will miss the remainder of the TATA IPL 2025 due to a fractured finger.

Maxwell had been dealing with the injury for several days, but the franchise confirmed Owen's addition only on Sunday, just ahead of their match against the Lucknow Super Giants.

This injury is a significant setback for Maxwell, who had a disappointing IPL 2025 season before being sidelined. His absence is a considerable loss for the Punjab Kings, who are still vying for a playoff spot. The Indian Premier League confirmed his departure through an official statement.

In light of this, the Punjab Kings have brought in 23-year-old Tasmanian all-rounder Mitchell Owen, known for his aggressive batting style and effective medium pace bowling. He joins the team for INR 3 Crore and is anticipated to enhance the squad's capabilities in both batting and bowling.
